The magical power of hot springs has been used for the well-being of mind, body and soul for centuries. It was tradition for the Greeks and the Romans to stimulate tired muscles and the stressed spirit by bathing in hot water. Today this function is performed by modern spas. With their multitude of functions they guarantee a healthy timeout.

To protect your health and to maintain your investment, the water in your spa requires the appropriate care.

SpaTime by BAYROL offers discerning spa owners easy-to-use, harmonised care products to keep the water in your spa clear, fresh and perfectly hygienic at all times.

Disinfection & Water oxidation

  • desinfection-spa_SideText

    Disinfection must be done regularly

In a spa, disinfection is an essential step and must be done regularly. You can choose between three methods of disinfection / oxidation:

    • Chlorine (Chlorine granules or chlorine tablets)
    • Active oxygen (Active oxygen granules or active oxygen activator)
    • Bromine (Bromine tablets)

In order to guarantee a higher water quality, we have developed a basic disinfection product to be added every week, regardless of the treatment method. In the form of pre-dosed sachets, Disinfectant Plus reinforces disinfection and prevents water quality problems.

Spa disinfection, frequently asked questions

  • The high water temperature in a spa creates an ideal environment for bacterial growth. That’s why continuous and sufficient disinfection is essential. A weekly disinfection is necessary and is a key step in water treatment.

You can choose from three disinfection/oxidation methods: Chlorine, active oxygen and bromine.

  • For chlorine disinfection, use: Multifunction Chlorine Tablets, Chlorine granules.

Additionally, use Disinfectant Plus weekly for optimal water quality.

  • For bromine disinfection, use Brome Pastilles for continuous disinfection without a chlorine odor. Additionally, use Disinfectant Plus weekly for optimal water quality.

  • For active oxygen disinfection use Active oxygen granules and Active oxygen activator for enhanced effectiveness. Additionally, use Disinfectant Plus weekly to maintain optimal water quality.

    Clean the cartridge and clarify

Filtration is one of the most important aspects of spa maintenance. Clean the filter cartridge at least every four weeks with Filter Cleaner.

To prevent water problems and keep your water clear, use our SpaTime Clarifier. This product ensures that small impurities, which are normally not retained in the filter, are combined into larger particles and thus made filterable. SpaTime Clarifier is suitable for all types of filters.

    Renew the water

    regularly

Over time, spa water accumulates chemicals and impurities, making regular water renewal through maintenance drains essential.

Additionally, spas require occasional cleaning to maintain optimal water quality. Use SpaTime Water Line Cleaner and SpaTime Drain Cleaner to remove deposits from the spa walls and piping systems, and SpaTime Anti Foam to prevent foam formation after activating the jets.

F.A.Q - Frequently asked questions

Regardless of its frequency of use, your spa requires constant care, with both preventive and corrective maintenance, before and after each use.

  • To easily maintain your spa, use the SpaTime by BAYROL range, a complete and user-friendly selection of spa water care products.

The best way to keep your water clean is to follow the treatment steps in order: test and balance the water, protect against limescale, disinfect to eliminate accumulated microorganisms, and ensure proper filtration while regularly renewing the water with maintenance drains.

  • Spa water disinfection should be carried out weekly, and you can choose from three methods:

    • Chlorine provides reliable, immediate disinfection and is the traditional choice for spas.
    • Bromine offers long-lasting, odor-free disinfection and is more effective than chlorine at high temperatures and levels, with slow-dissolving tablets ensuring continuous water treatment.
    • For a gentle, chlorine-free option, active oxygen treatment keeps the water pleasant, soft on the skin and hair, and completely odor-free.
  • Yes, you can use chlorine-based disinfection products to maintain your spa. If you're looking for reliable disinfection with an immediate effect, chlorine is the traditional spa disinfection method.

  • The filtration time depends on your spa’s volume, usage frequency, and chosen treatment method. In general, you should filter the water for 15 to 16 hours per day.

  • Yes, of course! You can use the spa while the filtration system is running. Since the filtration typically runs for 15 to 16 hours per day, depending on the spa’s volume, usage frequency, and treatment method, there is no risk in bathing while filtration is in operation.

  • You can use SpaTime 5 functions test strips to measure the hardness of your spa water. We also recommend contacting you water supplier to request the water hardness value. This will help you determine its initial level and whether you need to add a scale inhibitor like SpaTime Anti-Limescale at the start of the season.

Additionally, we encourage you to contact your BAYROL dealer and provide a water sample for a professional analysis. They can perform a detailed diagnosis and offer personalized recommendations for your spa maintenance.

  • If you are not using your spa during the winter, it is recommended to winterize it. This involves completely draining the spa and its piping system—you can refer to your manufacturer’s instructions for specific guidance.
